Case Study:
Eliminating Potato Soft Rot
75 million tons of potatoes are lost to soft rot
That's about 20% of the global potato harvest
At a cost of about $134 million annually in the US alone
EVERY YEAR:
The problem
Potato soft rot can cause significant losses of harvested potatoes, up to 30% in storage facilities. Furthermore, standard biocontrol measures are not effective at preventing the specific pathogens behind potato soft rot, making standard treatment measures less effective.
This has made potato soft rot a threat to efficiency and costly to control. The need for safe and effective alternatives is clear.
Our solution
We offer an organic, Non-GMO solution that is safe, efficient, and suitable for both conventionally-farmed and organic produce.
Using pathogen specific strains of amoebae, "dicty" as we call them, we help the food industry maximize crop yield, minimize losses in storage, and improve safety and profitability overall.
A biological control agent would have to “reach its target…then, to be active, the agent needs to survive and multiply… [and] another requirement is the preparation of a stable formulation.”
